Perkin-Elmer Terminal & RM-200 Punched Card Reader in Action!
A followup to a video from 2016 when I first acquired this Documation card reader. It's now doing "functional" work. An Arduino interface captures the data and converts it to ASCII in real-time. The first segment is with the reader intentionally hamstrung at 9600 Baud, which is the high limit of the PE terminal. Afterward, it's running at "top speed", dictated by the quality of the cards, which influences "pick" speed.
Restoration of the PE terminal can be found here: linearlook.com/PE.html

1980 Chevrolet Citation Boxed Set Side 1 - GM107A
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.Год назад
The 1980 Citation, Chevy's first FWD car. It could have been great. Economical, space-efficient, and available in 3-different body styles. Unfortunately, we know how things turned out. The Citation was big enough news for dealers that it was released as a separate laserdisc apart from the rest of the '80 car lines. I've attempted to clean up the audio on this one...it starts out poor but improv...

Why do I love these baby Caddys? I've got a problem.... LOL Even when I was selling Chevys back in 1990, when one of these hit the used lot, that's what I'd be driving until it sold.

At 0:25, I owned an exactly the same one. That example had been assembled in GM's Bienne/Biel CH factory. 4.9 Litre (301 cui) V8 petrol with 4 barrel Rochester carburetor. Absolutely reliable it had been.

Wow, this is hideous compared to the older model. It reminds me of when Chrysler built a little grandma mobile with a four cylinder and slapped "Charger" emblems on it. What a way to take a dump on what used to be a beautiful car.

Of course nobody was cross shopping this Cadillac with a Mercedes. The Merc was a good 10-20 grand more in real dollars at that time which was astronomical. Think like 50 grand or more in today’s dollars.

At that time there was no advantage to rear wheel drive over front wheel drive. Especially in the snow belt. More room. Better handling in show. No torque steer due to average acceleration. I liked the styling of these cars. GM quality was suspect

I had a ’79 Malibu wagon in the late 1980’s to commute to my first job. It was the lame, stripped down version they sold in the days. It had vinyl bench seats that would burn your thighs if you wore shorts in the summer, no A/C, and back windows didn’t go down. It really felt like you were burning on the beach in Malibu. Can’t forget the horrible AM radio. Summers would be followed with hard starting and persistent stalling in the winter cold that no one could seem to fix. It was so dog slow I joked went 0-60 in 20 minutes.

These small and compact type cars in GM....they should have been built in the Chevrolet & Pontiac divisions only. Olds & Buick and even Cadillac on a few, did not need to have compact car offerings. Who really wanted a compact Olds, Buick, or Cadillac ? These divisions were seen as mid and full size car offerings to me.

This Olds Toronado and the Cadillac Eldorado were " sister cars " and always were, dating back to 1967 when the Cadillac took on the same underpinning and front wheel drive Olds unit for the Eldorado. The Olds was just a little less " chrome glitzy " and less expensive than the Caddy. The Buick Riviera didn't join the Olds and Cadillac front drive until 1980.
